Default Value of purses

Dear fellow Italianisti,

I would like to know your openion on a value of the purses. I recently became a proud possor of a Burberry purse (medium) that costs about $600+ retail. It is nice and very easily recognizable purse as it has Burberry's signature plaided pattern. I received many compliments since I got it. BUT It is made of plastic....

Yesterday I had lunch with my one of my friends and she had a Luis Vuitton purse (large) that costs more than a $1000 retail. It is also made of plastic that has a signature pattern... We both were centers of attention first on the streets of Bethesda, MD where we walked and than in the restaurant (where we were serviced by 4 waitors who fulfilled all requiests we had, gave us free appetizers and free glasses of wine and asked not to leave them any tips just to come back frequiently. My friend compained that mussles that we eat were not large enough. One of the waiters promissed bigger muscless next time haha

So the question to you all is, does it worth to pay $600-$1000 for a plastic purse?

how do you say "no" in Italian? Or Russian? Or any language.

Do what you want with your own money of course, but I'd be embarassed to be scene with such an obvious attempt to prove my superior buying power to strangers on the street.

Mike , Joe you are wrong ! I think a purse just because it is plastic and did not involve any animal skin should be worth whatever people are willing to pay.

The Russian : How do I start a Life in Italy line of purses so I can get so some of this succ.... I mean fashion lovers ... money ????

Paolo, u r a very rational person. Yes, people should pay what they want or what they are ready to pay for an item!

Line of "Life in Italy" purses sounds great. How about developing a pattern of a plastic fabric unique to the line (e.g. a beautiful Italian woman for men's brief case and a statue of David (the one that is on display in Florence) for women's purses)?

Paolo the waitors were not looking at the purses I can ensure you that!!!

Good start on the "David" line of purses but you encluded the wrong part of David's body Try again keeping in mind that this is a line for women. Haha.
