Default Moving to Italy? Could anybody help out on a question?

Well I'll be moving to Sicily soon, and I am a complete skincare fanatic! What are some skincare brands available in both Sicily/Italy and the US? I'll be bouncing between the two countries a lot. Thank you for reading!

Hi Jackie

I don't know much about skincare products, but I would say that only the "run of the mill" personal products are available in the supermarkets. The pharmacies have the monopoly on nearly all medicines and health products, and are accordingly very expensive. If you use any particular brands please let us know, and maybe some of the lady members can advise you. Some of the (very) few things we bring from the UK are basic medicines and tea bags because of the cost (paracetomal are approx 16 times the UK price here!).

are you looking for really expensive, or drugstore. if i recall they sell a lot of nivea (but my skin is super dry so it didn't really work very well). i remember looking for Body Drench, and they don't have it. You can go to Sephora (there is one in Ostia and maybe? Rome) they also havea website.. Sephora.com. i had a hard time finding anything to be honest; but when i lived there i barely had any money!! i'm sure you'll find some wonderful products if you have the cash.

hi jackie, if you go to the front page (home page) of this website there is a section on Italian Beauty where some products are discussed. You also could probably type into your laptop search engine something like skin care U.S. Italy and see what comes up. bTW, I am a certified esthetician so I am IN the skin care business - i am moving to siena on july 20 as a dual citizen and one of my ideas is to open my own skin care business. I do know that in general, and it's the opinion of many in my profession that europe especially italy and france have outstanding skin care products and cosmetics that are for the most part far superior to the U.S.
where in sicily are you moving. I have many cousins (cognome Bellassai) in Comiso, Sicily. I went there in 2004. i would love to move to sicily too but i'm worried about the area being more economically depressed than the north. what will you do there, do you have a job lined up? tell us more about yourself. Cordial saluti, tangobunny
