Default Jewelry in St. Mark's Square

I was in Venice three weeks ago, and in St. Mark's Square I saw beautiful amber-colored jewelry in many of the stores. It was fairly prevalent. We were there at night, after the stores were closed, so I couldn't go in. Unfortunately, we were on a tour and left the next morning. So I didn't get to shop, but I wish I had been able to get something! I didn't see it anywhere else in Italy that we went.

Can anyone tell me what the jewelry was made of? I think it was amber, or possibly gold-leaf Murano glass, maybe citrine.

Thanks!

Default Murano glass necklaces from Venice, Italy

Beautiful hand-made, authentic Murano glass necklaces from Venice, Italy. The Murano glass necklaces are all individually
hand-blown, and hand-made, each necklace exquisite and breath-taking gifts from Venice, Italy! Venetian Beads and Murano
Glass Necklaces, all hand-made lampwork or blown by mouth in the traditional style of Venice! Each necklace comes with a
free gondola keychain and Venice postcard!

I lived only 25 miles away from Venice for 2 years. Use to go there every other week-end. Just imagine a 19 years old kid
in Venice. It was like being in a fairy tale land. But then that descirbes most of Italy.

At any ate could this be what you're talking about?

Hi, Ibulmer
This was Murano glass jewelry, it's glass mixed with various semi-precious and precisous metals while hot and made entirely by hand using ancient traditions and instruments. When the glass cools and hardens, it can take on a look of various natural minerals and substances, and amber is one example. In fact, a well-known semi-precious stone Aventurine was named AFTER Avventurina technique of Murano glass making, where tiny particles of copper are mixed in with glass to create a sparkling effect. You can learn more about Murano glass at http://www.glassofvenice.com/murano_glass_history.php. One of the pieces that may be similar to what you saw in Venice is here http://www.glassofvenice.com/capri-necklace-p-318.html
