In early aprile, I'll be returning (together with my family) to Italy after a long absence. I haven't made any definite plans yets, but here's what I'm thinking.

1. Arrive in Florence and spend a few days with friends that I went to school with. Day trip to Pisa, Siena, San Gimignano, ecc. ecc.

2. Weekend in Rome (hopefully with friends from Lecce)

3. Return to Florence (no plans for 1 -2 days)

4. Head up north, 1 night in Como, 1 night (non lo so) and maybe 1 night outside Venezia...so I can spend a full day there.

Any suggestions for Must sees" between florence and north ??

2 / 3 - If you have time Cinque Terre is well worth the trip (not too far off your planned journey) and also Castiglioncello (yes, I'm definately biased - I live here!). The Mercato del porcellino in Firenze is also worth seeking out while you're there. Enjoy your stay!
