Default Consiglio ? (near Venice)

OK, I'm looking at my itinerary and I'm trying to spend a day in Venice. I would prefer to stay outside of Venice and I'm wondering if any of you have suggestions. I was thinking of Mestre or even Padova. I'll be driving up from Florence and wanted to find a hotel, drop-off luggage and spend a full day/night in Venice...then return to the hotel for the night before leaving for Como. If I remember correctly, it's too aggravating arriving in Venice with all the luggage, for only 1 night, so I've decided to stay outside of Venice

Any suggestions on places to stay near Venice ???

I have not been in Venice in a while but I always heard of Mestre as a valuable alternative - Never of Padova - Also parking just outside at the parking lot and looking for a Bed and Breackfast inside Venice would be a solution

Grazie Paola.

Conto su di te ! Penso che sia una buon' idea. l'unico e':

I wonder how safe/secure the parking is outside b/c If I go into Venice for only 1 night, I was hoping to travel lite (not with all the luggage)

...Sei a Roma, no. Ci arriveremo 1l 10 aprile.

a presto

I remember there is a parking Garage outside Venice where I left my motorcycle before visiting - I would assume that the parking Garage is quite secure. I am in Bolsena now but only till the end of the month. I live in the US but 4 times a year I come to Italy

3 years ago I staied in Court Yard Marriott just outside of Venice. At the time the hotel was brand new (now it is 3 years old). There is a buss that takes you to Venice and it is about 20 min ride. The hotel is GORGEOUS and very modern. The service was great and the breakfast was delicious and the ambiance was very pleasant.

I just checked regular rates for next week (August 24-31) it is 170 Euro/night. This is a regular rate I'm sure you may be able to find a cheaper rate or try a last minute rate.
https://www.marriott.com/hotels/trav...enice-airport/

I also found this deal for you:
PROMOTIONAL CODE: M11 (rates from 140 Euro to 185 Euro /per night)
Book your 2-night stay using the special code M11 and take advantage of this exclusive offer including:
- Upgrade to Executive Room
- 1 one way boat ticket for two persons to Murano Island

Have a great trip!

The Russian.

Thank you Russia and Paolo.

There are a couple of garages there now (Tronchetto and Piazalle Roma), so that's an option, plus I'm debating on staying outside Venice for the night -so I can spend the day in the Venice and leave early the next AM for Milano / Como vs. keeping the car somewhat loaded in a gargage while we travel lightly and spend the night in Venice.

I'll keep you posted, but thanks for the tips. I still have a lot of time to plan, but the research is fun too.
