I like it! It is easy to use (tabs on top), it gives different ways to see information (through list of topics on forum page, and through a list of members). And I really like my page option (sort of similar to Facebook page).

Will this new forum allow to have the following:
1. post videos
2. have online chat option (again kind of similar to facebook)
3. add friends
4. create groups

I like the new site too, though Steve is right...it's the wrong color scheme!

I know it's new but until there is more content to weed through, it's kinda hard to judge which is better.

I opened a discussion on the color scheme - feels like I'm on an Irish site. There's more in the discussion item.

I like the upload integration - easy and quick.

It took a little effort to get to something the equivalent of the Forum on the existing site (click View All). Maybe I'm a stick-in-the-mud but I do like the organization and information the existing site provides for discussions.

The social networking aspect does show in the features of the site...I'm just not sure I'm a social networker.

Nonetheless, many thanks for your hard work in constantly improving Life in Italy!

Paolo the idea is wonderful!
But, if colours are changeable, that green (at least a green so strong) doesn't seem fit for LiI, as Steve said.
Use something with soft colors if you can, it helps the eyes and gives a "serious and professional" appeal to the board!

Guys and girls
It was only a test ! The color scheme will match the future main website - do not worry -
Russian yes it has capabilities
1. post videos
2. have online chat option (again kind of similar to facebook)
3. add friends
4. create groups
I just did not activate all the features now -

Good Question Nouran:
Unfortunately that system is completely different so all I could do is email all the member of this forum to Join the new system - This forum will be closed from posting after after a week or two so all the members will have time to to join the new system - I would like the forum up for consultation for several months however and maybe manually cut and paste the most important threads into the new forum platform.

I think this old system is better suited to be a forum but the new / other system is better to create a community facebook style -

An upgrade to this system ( vbulletin 4.0 ) is suppose to be delivered before the end of 2009 but that might be too late !

PS Of course waiting for vbulletin 4.0 will give the advantage that we keep all the posts we have intact !

Any more thoughts ?
