| | Subjects allowed on the forum
I want to start a discussion of subjects allowed on the forum :
1) Italy or Italian related - anything allowed
2) Personal issues - chat : It should be allowed in a new forum category - In all the good community people talk about themselves so it should be encouraged but in an appropiate category
3) Politics : It should be limited ( edited ) - and no long cut and paste should be allowed. Post should be kept short !
Any suggestion ?

Personally, I would not allow announcements of houses for rent or similar, but I suppose you must agree with them advertising it on here.

I actually think its a good idea to advertise a long term rental as long as it is a personal one, not an agency. I personally may want to rent an apmt in the summer so it would be good for me.

actualy I think all advertisments related to Italy are good, it icreases the help one can get when joining the forum.
I also don't mind the external, they are helpful.
I would love it if books and movies are talked about in posts, the only time I get to discuss them is in the chat box which isn't alot.

As nouran said. I'm all for advertisements that have to do with italy. I think theres a difference between spam ads and helpful ads. Ads for companies are fine, ads for watches are another. Make sense?

I understand your point of view, but there is a difference between exploiting and giving help.
Most of the advertisements come from people who join just to give visibility, and this is exploiting. If one gives an actual contribution to the forum the thing changes.
Moreover, users who are here only to ad their rentals often do more than one thread, and often they also leave it abandoned and don't answer, making it useless also for people who would be interested.

I think I understand what you are trying to say zidanie, it also pisses me off when I see someone starting a thread about his company and their products but as you said earlier one can't blame them for taking use of the free puplicity, so I think the answer would be to make a section just for ad posts this way if one is not interested he'd just ignore them.

Frank and CJ have contributed enough free advice to be allowed that privilege, but very few others.

I know advertisments can be a pain in the neck but if they are related to italy then they can be helpful to some people.
