Paolo, I don't know if this is the right place to talk about the Chat feature - but we all wish there was a way members could see that someone has entered the chat room and wants to chat. We just have to keep trying a this point and hope someone notices we are there.
Could you do something that blinks or something like that? How about a bright colored notice in the bottom tray the way Skype does it?

Just a thought, but could the forum be in the more conventional way of forum layout, with oldest posts at the top.
I find it quite odd that the newest posts are at the top of the thread. It's like trying to read back to front!

Ed89, the vast majority of the forums have this layout. It's much more useful to have new messages on top, to keep always new discussions alive, without upping the old ones.
And then for each section there are hundreds of discussions, if one is looking for new threads it's strange to see first 2006 discussions

Thanks a lot for all the suggestions -
However most of them will be applied toward the final stage of the process and I will read the suggestions again -
In the man time a good FAQ section at least for this forum / community section like somebody suggested should be useful ( maybe somebody can help me writing it ) -
Paolo

Hmm, odd. I visit tens of forums and none of them follow this layout. Maybe I'm just not used to it but this layout isn't standard. Anyways, if it works for you then no need to change.
Just my personal preference. I find it odd to read the topic title, then the first message be something like "OK, thanks for that". I read forums like I would read a book, with the series of messages in chronological order.
For example, what other website do you have to scroll to the bottom, then scroll from bottom to top to read? It's very unusual.

I would give an example of a good forum layout (imo) but i think that would be considered advertising. But many forums use it it's just easy to read and get through. With the Main post then advertisement then posts and advertisement before the quick reply I find it hard to navigate and follow what people are saying. The last post thing does help me a bit. because sometimes the new post image is always there or never there and doesn't actually tell me that there is a new post. On a side thing though it isn't free a Ventrilo channel for the site might be interesting and make it easier for some people with no Italian relatives or friends to speak to people who are natural Italian speakers of just skilled. It would make learning easier but as I said it isn't free but I'm not sure how much it is... Just my opinion

| | Food section
Paolo, I was just browsing thru the Food section and it is a bit hard to navigate and no where for anyone else to post a recipe. There also is no way to print a recipe that I can see.
So if we had a separate thread for just recipes or maybe redoing the current one so that others may uplaod recipes and print them. When I want a recipe now, I go to the Food network and I can print any recipe very easily. Thanks
Dan
