| | Posting Rules : Life In Italy Ten Commandments
In order to keep this forum enjoyable and interesting for all of our members, we ask simply that you follow these minimal rules. By participating in the Discussion Forums, you are consenting to these rules. Violators may be warned, suspended from posting, or barred from the forums or chats, at the sole discretion of the Life in Italy staff. *
*
1.Exercise common sense. The general guideline is that members must treat each other with respect and dignity, attacking ideas and issues rather than each other. Diversity of opinion and intelligent civil debate is encouraged. By the same token, personal insults are not tolerated. Disagreeing with an idea of another community member is different from attacking that individual. This also includes attacking members via the Private Message system. *
2 Please keep the discussion and dialogue moving and keep posts to a reasonable length.
3. This is not your personal advertisement board. Links posted by new-comers will be de activated. Please be courteous and keep your advertising off of this forum. By participating in this Forum you agree not to solicit funds, directly promote or engage in any commercial activity in the chats or forums. You may not contact other members privately by any means to solicit business without their express prior permission.
4. Members alone are responsible for the material they post. Members shall not knowingly post content or links to any content that violates the copyright, trademark, patent or other intellectual property right of any third party. Members may not post any content or links to content that is libelous, defamatory, offensive, obscene, racist, abusive, that violates a third party's right to privacy, that violates any applicable local, regional, national or international law, or that is otherwise inappropriate.
5. Do not post off-topic. Please keep your comments consistent with the subject and purpose of the conversation thread.* An off-topic area has been created specifically for this purpose.*
6. In general, we accept language that is courteous and considerate. Gratuitous obscenity and/or explicit or implicit descriptions of sex do not belong in this forum.
7. Spamming and trolling are strictly not allowed. This includes using the forum email and Private Message system to spam members.*
8. All images and/or photographs posted in threads or in the photo gallery must be original material and not belong to third parties who have not given express permission. Nothing that violates third party rights or if deemed offensive/overtly sexual or considered to be of bad taste (outside the realms of common decency) will be permitted.*
9. Please use the reporting mechanism in good faith, to report any threads, posts, images or any material that violates these rules.*
10. The Life in Italy forum is moderated by a group of users who generously donate their time. As a result, objectionable material that breaches the rules may remain until someone can get around to correcting them. We reserve the right in our sole discretion to edit, refuse to post, remove, or otherwise alter or delete any material submitted to or posted on the chats or forums that are of an irrelevant, abusive or disruptive nature

| | One more ! VERY IMPORTANT !
When posting please use meaningful Titles for Google - ( do not use literary titles )
Example we have a great thread about Italian Music - Unfortunately the title given was 'Lucio battisti and others' - If you now search on Google for 'Battisti and others' the thread is on the home page - Unfortunately nobody does such a search - If the title had been 'Italian Music' that would have been more useful -
Also : When you start a thread please add also some meaningful tags.
Grazie
Paolo

Grazie mille Paolo. The rules are fair and should not be difficult to follow. They are truly just common sense. Ronald has a good idea to post these rules as a permanent part of the welcome page and also have a new section including the general guidelines.

Paolo Ronald's idea seems great, as a message or in the Faq it would have more visibility than as a sticky imho.

| | One more Rule : political postings !
Well We also need to limit the amount of political postings !
If I let Villa and Max loose there will be only Bush and Berlusconi posts on the forum ... actually Villa is a lot more reasonable now.
I do want to limit the amount of political posting one beacause members did complain - Two because anyway two many postings produce the opposite effect ! ( example : When I am personally pushed to go one side I react going toward the other ! ) I never voted Berlusconi but now I am personally contemplating ... just as a reaction from being pushed one way - nothing rational !
So: any suggestion on how we can either limit or place the political posting in its own section ?

Paolo - I think the "Political threads" should be under a separate heading. Many people have strong views, and that's good, as is the debate that follows. However, if an Italian-based thread turns into a debate about Bush and Berlusconi, it will certainly put a lot of visitors off from joining, and also alienates the (minority it seems) non-Italian and non-American members. I would like to add that whilst Villa and Max may have strong political opinions, they have never (to my knowledge at least) been rude or aggressive.
