Default Moving to Italy with 4 children

Hello All,

We are from Melbourne, Australia and are planning on moving to Italy to live for a few years before the start of the new school year. There are 6 of us, my husband and 4 children. I'm hoping that this site will be able to help us get started on achieving this. Thanks.

Benvenuti al nostro forum/welcome to the forum.

You can certainly get a lot of informazione here on your move to Italy. Prima di tutto/first of all
complimenti on your move to Italy and what parte of Italy are you planning to move to/what city
esattamente/exactly? How well to you speak Italian and or are you studying Italian adesso/now?

We have several forum members who have recentemente/recently done esattamente what you want to do which is to move to Italy.
Funny how now that they have been living in Italy they don't come around molto anymore. I keep in contact with them by e-mail
adesso. They seem to be doing fine. One is an entire family plus a dog or two and the father and mother-in-law. The other is a
single lady. The family has a 14 year old figlia/daughter they have put in school in Italy. They are forum members Giovanni da Roma and Tangobunny.

Auguri to Giovanni da Roma Hey everybody, Let's all give a big warm congrats to Giovanni da Roma...he and his father-in-law had
their embassy appointment on Friday and things went perfeccto. They are now living in Italy.

Thankyou for your welcome.

we are looking at moving around Livorno or Livorno itself. My husband learns Italian, but myself and the 4 kids have no italian at all.

I am unsure where we start. We are able to fund ourselves so are not looking for work to support ourselves whilst in Italy. I suppose i need to contact the italian Embassy in Melbourne as my first port of call?

I also need to get an idea of what type of accommodationn we can rent. We currently have a large 5 bedroom house with a pool and a tennis court, not something we will be able to rent in Italy i would thik. I have been looking on immobiliare on Google but I am unsure what there house types are and also if the rents are weekly or monthly. Is it also easy to rent a house being a foreigner?

School is the next thing to consider. I would preferably like the kids to go to the local Italian school. We will be continuing our kids education via distance education from Victoria whilst we ar i9n Italy.

My husband and I were in Italy in August. We have been from Ravello up to Florence. We liked the fact that Livorno is on the water and is close to a decent airport which flies out to many countries in Europe.

I would appreciate any advice or any links to some other threads.

Regards,

Hi,jimmiejam
su nome( my name)is Christiano and i also am dreaming of Italy in fall 2010. But with the idea of buying a house. We don't have any kids but think of retired there. So I will be trying to learn all I can from the people on this site. Here is a site about renting a house this just may help you. I also have 3 more.

But the 1st thing you have to learn is: "THE ART OF THE DEAL" don't be scard to start with 40% off that price. WHAT can they say NO you can
always go up. HO, I can't speak a word of Italian well maybe 50 words big deal!

I will try to send a pic with this, but lately I have had no luck!
