Default Keeping up the language in New Zealand and a mystery song

Hello
I spent a month in Pistoia and Cinque Terre in June this year and loved it. I took some language classes before travelling and practiced as hard as I could while I was there. It made a huge difference to my experience. Other countries I visited where I had no language to call on were fun, but not as satisfying.
I don't know if I'll ever be able to afford to travel widely again, but I am keen to keep my new language skills.
To that end, I bought some of my favourite novels in italian so I can work my way through them with the english counterparts at hand, and I bought the music that caught my attention during my travels.
Reading the novels is paying off, but it is a slow process. The music is more fun and the words seem easier to recall when I have learnt them with such strong mnemonics.
There is a song I am having difficulty chasing down. It was titled something akin to "Love story of Milan." The associated video featured a cafe robbery by a guy with a violin case. I can't remember the artist's name. The singer gets photographed, slapped and generally has a hard time of it throughout the short story. The verses are mostly a guitar band sound and an orchestra joins in for the chorus.
Any help with this mystery song, or hints and tips on improving my spoken italian in a country with very few italian speakers will be gratefully received.
Cheers
Matt
