| | Hello Angelica; Welcome
Ciao Angelica,
Do you have snow in Washington state? How do you like the US? What is Carissimi translated to English? The little translator I used brought up 'most expensive'?! I too am thankful for Paolo's work in organizing the site. I hope to get much value from it over time. Welcome if this is your first visit. Stay warm.
Take care.

| | Cari, Carissimi Amici
I too love Paolo's work -
Ok OK Cari means either expensive or dear ( like my dear friends ).
Also used as I miei cari usually means my close relatives.
Carissimi could be used as ' I miei carissimi amici ' My dearest friend or
very expensive like questi gioielli sono carissimi - This jewels are very expensive. Then mia cara means. My dear referred to a woman.
And last for the most advanced: Sempre caro mi fu quest'ermo colle,. e questa siepe, che da tanta parte. dell'ultimo orizzonte il guardo esclude.
Anybody remembers the the above ?

Paulo,
I did not remember the above, however, my curious nature leads me to Infinito, Giacomo Leopard. Beautiful ......"as I sit and watch, I invent in my mind endless spaces beyond."
I love nature and everything it stands for!
Ciao, Contenta

Ciao Contenta,
Carissimi means 'my dearest ones'. As an adjective "carissimi' means,in fact, very expensive. Yes we have about a foot of snow, it has been funny beause the temperature warms up to about 36-37 during the day and then freezes at night again, creating a very dangerous icy surface everywhere.
I have been in the States for so long I don't allow myself to think about liking it or not...its my life, my kids are here so it's Ok. I am trying to deny/avoid the dicotomy of the immigrant I have gone back to live in Europe in the last 5 years and loved it too.
Thanks for the welcoming
Angelica

Ciao Angelica,
I think I would much rather have a foot of snow for Christmas morning than no snow at all. It just doesn't seem Christmas without a blanket of snow on the ground. Home is where the heart is, and it definitely makes a difference when children are involved. I wouldn't have dreamed of moving to Europe when my children were younger. Now that they are age 18 and more independent, I would highly consider it as an option and something I would be interested in doing given the best of circumstances. So long as I can come home and visit or vice versa, I'd be all set. I hope you never have to feel a division. We are not defined by whether we are Italian living in Italy or America, or whether we are American living in Italy or America. It is our character, who we are, how we treat others, what we make of our time on this earth that matters. Great to hear from you.
I hope you Christmas was very special and blessed.

| | Ciao cari
Sorry friends, i will try, next time. Happy new year.

Solita,
Freel free to translate for the American that does not know 'proper' English, let alone basic Italian. I'm open for the lesson! I need to dare to speak out before I am able to learn.

| | Errata - corretta
Ciao Solita
Per favore non ti formalizzare. Scrivi pure in Italiano cosi' impari.
Paolo
