Default This time I'm the one who needs a help!

People, after many translations I've done, this time it is me in need of a help
This because I've been assigned a translation much harder than those I'm used to do.
So I would really appreciate a lot for someone to take a look at the English text I've struggled on.
It's quite long, but you can even read just one paragraph, it already is a big help!
Is there some mistake or some better-expressable sentence? (I'm sure about this as Italian version was written in a very formal language)
Thanks in advance to anyone who gives a little helping hand!

Here is the text:

It’s with great pleasure that “de’ Liguori” School publishes this booklet, synthesis of a two-year long work of the schoolboys of VC touristic project (ITER), devised and guided by prof. Luca Piscitelli.

The creation of an audio guide for the visit to the main monuments of S.AGATA DEI GOTI fulfils a need which grew in the last years, and became even stronger recently, after our town has been the subject of news reports and the location for cinema productions. This renewed interest has given S. Agata dei Goti notoriety well beyond local and provincial areas, claiming the attention of art and landscape lovers, attracting more and more fascinated tourists.

About S.Agata dei Goti many valuable publications exist, both ancient and recent, which range from extremely scientific ones with scrupulous analysis of details, to lighter and more accessible ones.
The former ones aim to satisfy the intellectual curiosity of scholars; the latter ones intended for “bite and run” tourists, who enjoy an uncontaminated environment, far from the chaos and the high amount of pollution of urban outskirts. The “average” tourist, who avoids inattentive glances to artistic works as well as the seriousness of scholarly expositions, looks for something else. This work is intended to be the answer to those needs.

It goes without saying that the product, unique for S.Agata, is supported by the experience and diffusion of similar ones in the majority of Italian and foreign museums. We believe that “Sannio’s pearl” deserved the same, because it presents itself as a boundless permanent exposition of art treasures and fabric of the city, in which one can freely move and choose the monument to admire.

With the audio guide, we are convinced of having done a service to the territory, both because we filled a gap, and because we proved that the school works strictly connected with the surrounding socio-economic situation, affirming its value in the point of view of “spendable knowledge”, to guarantee young people a non-marginal future in their own environment.

With the hope that this initiative gets the support we expect.

I am no expert in the English language even though it is the only one i know!

This is may take on it. The last 2 paragraphs are untouched, though I would spend more time reviewing them later:

Oh Mike I just don't know how to thank you!
I really appreciate for you to having spent time helping me.
I really had troubles making some sentences flow, you made them so natural that when I read them I thought "Why didn't I write it this way?"
Thanks so much!

Here's another contribution. My changes are in brackets []:

Thanks a lot Steve for your precious help, it's getting better and better!
From all the things you guys corrected I suppose my translation was horrible
Problem is that the Italian version was a bit messy, you know Italian is a bit like latin, it has a thousand of subordinate sentences, and each one makes translating harder!
About the location, I can't add or subtract things from the original I was given!

Thanks again boys, I'll add the elements of both of you and I think it comes out pretty nice!
Non so come ringraziarvi, grazie mille!

No problem, I'm happy to be of assistance. I hope I didn't misunderstand the intended message where I made changes. Your original translation was very good - I just tried to use wording that would be more familiar to a US English reader.

Now, here's a translation of the above into Italiano:

Nessun problema, sarò felice di essere di aiuto. Mi auguro di non fraintendere il messaggio destinato dove ho apportato delle modifiche. La vostra traduzione originale, era cosa molto buona - ho solo cercato di utilizzare termini che potrebbero essere più familiare ad un lettore di inglese americano.

I hope I didn't screw that up too badly...

Wow that was great Steve! Very formal though, I'm not used to being talked to in formal way
Anyways from what I've seen you didn't misunderstand. The principal problem is that Italian allows much more complex sentences, while I know in English it's better to put a dot than 8 commas
And most school principals write as difficult to understand as they can!

Villa, I can't show you the original as it's been given to me in paper, anyways I write you one of most complicated bits, he seems to have chosen the most abstruse words he could find:

Sulla citta di S.Agata esistono numerose, pregevoli pubblicazioni - sia antiche, che recenti - le quali spaziano dalla scientificità estrema e dall'analisi doviziosa di particolari descrittivi, al carattere generalista e di lieve divulgazione.

LOL, I'd like to write at the bottom of the translation page I did: Man, you know a lot of big words, now what about learning the Gricean maxims?

Wow, that was almost incomprehensible when translated into English! You did a fantastic job since that was what you started with!!!

In future I'll try to be less formal... sweetie! ;-)

Zidanie is it a local museum or monument?

If you could tell me what kind of place I would love to give it a go.

Am I right in thinking that it is hoped that it will contribut to a positive way to the local economy? That is what the last few paragraphs seem to say.
