Smile Buon Anno! Happy New Year!

I wish you all a very happy and healthy New Year. What are your plans for ushering in 2008?

Here's a little story about my best New Year's eve...2002

My husband and I had been given keys to the rooftop garden of our Trastevere apartment building by a neighbor who was going away for the holidays. We took a radio, two wine glasses and a bottle of prosecco up the stairwell and out onto the roof a little before midnight.

Default Felice Anno Nuovo!

A very Happy New Year to you too Martha!

We'll be spending ours quietly (is that possible in Italy??), with a stroll down to the main piazza, and a walk along the lungomare, maybe calling into one of the bars on the way.

I hope you, paolo, sardoman, Fulvio, Dan "e tutti gli altri" on Life in Italy have a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year.

Thanks Markymark, and my very best wishes to one and all for a prosperous and happy 2008.

I'll be spending the evening with a group of friends at a convent where the nuns run an adoption service for children from Guatemala. Many couples in Italy are unable to adopt because of the bureaucracy (that word again!!) and so the nuns provide a legal service, with much less paperwork, which helps not only couples in Italy but also these poor children.
