Italy coach Nick Mallett has made three changes to his backline and one to his pack ahead of Saturday's Six Nations encounter with Wales at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.
Treviso star Andrea Marcato makes his first Test start in place of David Bortolussi who has been ruled out of the remainder of the tournament after picking up a shoulder injury in last week's 23-19 defeat to England in Rome.
There's also a first Test start for Alberto Sgarbi who takes over from the injured Kaine Robertson on the right wing, while Simon Picone has been rewarded for his fine try-scoring cameo against England - he ousts Pietro Travagli from the number nine jersey.
Meanwhile, Salvatore Perugini returning at loosehead prop at the expense of Andrea Lo Cicero.
But there is no room in the XV for fit-again Marco Bortolami. The Gloucester lock, who missed Italy's opening two games with a facial injury, makes do with a spot on the bench.
