I already knew about that, we don't really need a win to get to the World Cup, so I hope it's a tie, I want to see Trap succeed in his Irish experience.

I left the room as the husband was shouting at the tv 'Go towards the goal'...another long night for the Irish.

Even if Ireland come second in the group they wont win in the playoffs...

I really love Ireland, their culture and their sense of national pride, so I really hope they get to the World Cup (in the playoffs though, Italian heart still beats here )

Well Zidanie

Irlanda is still there, it just delays the inevitable, that he will have to go for Australia in the the World Cup...but if we are in Italy he wll for Italy just to spite me.

Will there be trouble for Italy for not beating them at home?

Well Melbourne, at this point it will be tough for Ireland to catch on Italy. They're 2 points behind, and both teams still have to play two matches.
If Ireland wins both matches, Italy still has to lose one of two matches to finish second.
Given that with Georgia is a cheap win, we should lose to Bulgaria in Italy.
So, very probably, Ireland will play its chances at the playoffs.

This link can tell you more about matches played and still to play:

Well, they tied but Italy played with one man short since the 3rd minute of the game. That was a terrible call by the ref, tossing Pazzini out, (should have been a yellow not a red card).

I don't like this Italy team at all. Unless Lippi makes some changes this is a pretty mediocre squad. Cassano not being called up is a crime, probably the best player in Italy today.
It's insane to have players like Pepe, Palombo, Brighi, Quagliarella with the azzurri. They're not good enough.
I'd also like to see a youth movement, we got so many great young players like Rossi, Giovinco, Santon, Abate, Balotelli....
Put them out there. They can't be any worse than the stiffs we're using now.
Not all is lost, as we still have a two point lead, but to struggle with the likes of Montenegro and Ireland is not a good sign for the fututre.
