Two teams advance.
Italy needs to beat France and Holland has to beat or tie Romania for us to go on.
The danger is that Holland will rest its best players because the result of their game is meaningless. Hopefully they play their hardest but, again, have no incentive to do so.
Both games are on at the same time, so no team will know the results of the other match before-hand.
Of course, there's no guarantee that Italy will beat France. Neither team has distinguished themselves in the tournament, which is really surprising since Italy is the defending world champ and France the runner-up....

Ciao Augustus & Steve

Let us hope that Holland does not lie down and let Romania win without a fight.
But I have a feeling Holland will do just that ...no one would want to play Italy twice. They have always been slow from the starting gate and this time it might cost Italy and early exit!

Forza Italia lets kick some French ass!

Great result! And what a joy to be in Italy - if I was back in the UK, an England win would be celebrated with drinking to excess, take-away cartons in the streets and the drunken singing (and worse) of the "fans" on their way home. Here? Shouts of joy from the nearby houses when Italia scored the penalty, followed by beeping of horns from the jubilant (sober - I heard the car horns, no collisions) supporters on their way home - now 1130 at night, no aggressive drunks, just happy people making a noise!

Forze Italia (again)!

Ciao Mark
Yes, disappointing result for Italia vs. Spain!

The blame goes to Villa from Life in Italy. Kick him off the forum!

On the bright side, Spain is my next favorite team. If I was not an Italian, I would want to be Spanish born in Spain.

Better luck in defending the world championship Italia

Salve
Frank
