They have never used instant replay in soccer and this tournament is not unique with the controversial calls. It happens every time.
Italy has been very disappointing, although the Toni goal WAS valid. They are very predictable offensively, with the usual crosses from the wings, and never really change their strategy.
Donadoni is an incompetent who has been terribly out-coached.
His choices against Holland were terrible, starting Gattuso, Ambrosini, and Materazzi who have all been abysmal in the serie A season.
Did a better job against Romania but we still can't score. Plus Zambrotta's error on Mutu's goal is unforgivable. At that level, you don't make those kinds of mistakes.
I just watched the Turkey-Czech game. Turkey was losing 2-0 with 15 minutes to go but came back to win 3-2. Those players have heart, something the highly paid Italian professionals do not.
Basically, our team is too old and slow. There are younger, better players left in Italy but Donadoni didn't have the courage to call them up.
