Default The Nuova Cinquecento

So what is everyone's thoughts on the NEW Fiat 500?

I mean the original was a classic in almost every respect, and when I happen to see the original, which I did recently, it just screams Italian style and culture. So when Fiat decided to redo the car for 2007, what did you think?

Some people say the original should have stayed that way without a new model to muck things up, others say its just a perfect blend of retro styling and new wave technology. What do you think? I'll have an article on BOTH the original, and the new 500.

In 1988, my brother and I visited Italy with our wives and children, 8 of us total. We all got into a black 500 and drove from our place in Luni Mare to Sarzana, approximately 10 kilometers. Pretty stupid thing to do but, at the moment it seemed fun. I love the old 500 and I love the new 500. If I had the chance to purchase one or the other, I would choose the old 500 just out of nostalgia.

Sadly the CEO of Fiat mentioned in passing, although was very reluctant to say that the 500 would "maybe" come to the States in 2010. Basically no is what he's saying. By that time the car will be dated, and I don't think Fiat has any plans to return to the US, although Alfa Romeo is on their way here next year.

An absolutely lovely collage of film shots from the original Fiat 500 that Fiat made to sell the car in 1957, lovely stuff...and the song is "Dime quando quando quando".

And the upcoming Fiat 500 ABARTH!!!!

Obviously shown here in disguise, may look different when it arrives soon, but it sounds great, looks great, and I'm sure its much faster! More on the sport variant to come as it breaks...

A cute little car. We passed one just like that in white on the A4, somewhere between the Slovenian border and Mestre.

Nice styling! The old one looks dated in comparison. Plus, I would assume the new one is a lot more reliable.

Default Fiat 500

Actually traveller - I am not a car expert but i always believed that the old Fiat 500 had an extremely durable and tough engine. Many of those little car are still used daily in Italy 40 years later ... and they spend many year in daily traffic
