Default Re: Italy has more cars per person than the U.S. or anybody else for that matter!!!

I was double checking this trying to get more data but I found only one wiki-answer ( I do not know how reliable )- " There is about 1.023 cars per person in America. (That's about 1023 cars per every thousand people in America.) In China, there is only 9 cars per 1000 people. In India, 11 cars per 1000 people. "

I then seached in Italian
Ho trovato anche questi dati per il 2003
Auto in circolazione nel 2003

Le auto in circolazione in Italia nel 2003 erano 34,3 milioni ( about the same as your stats Villa )

Età auto
Età media auto benzina 8,5 anni
Età media auto diesel 4 anni
Meno di 5 anni 11,9%
Dai 5 ai 10 anni 9,4%
Dai 10 ai 15 anni 7,1%
Dai 15 ai 20 anni 2,8%
Più di 20 anni 3,1%

According to another source Villa you seem right :"

The only data that seem wrong is the wikianswer data so far -
Now according to wikipedia :
Total number of vehicles

According to the US Bureau of Transit Statistics for 2006 there are 250,851,833 registered passenger vehicles in the US. Out of these roughly 251 million vehicles, 135,399,945 were classified as automobiles, while 99,124,775 were classified as "Other 2 axle, 4 tire vehicles," presumably SUVs and pick-up trucks. Yet another 6,649,337 were classified as vehicles with 2 axles and 6 tires and 2,169,670 were classified as "Truck, combination." There were approximately 6,686,147 motorcycles in the US in 2006.

They also make some of the fastest and most beautiful cars (Lamborghini, Ferrari, Maserati etc.) and the slowest (those three-wheeled pick-ups from Ape and Piaggio)

Do all the cars in the junk yards count as well? There are a lot of Fiat "bodies" in the junk yards. I hope Fiat has made a better name for themselves. Fiat used to have a bad reputation and stood for "Fix It Again :Tony"

His time to market was extremely long and it was not doing good business.

Few years ago (5?) FIAT changed its organization and it started again to be a good car manifacturer!
