Zeta Europe BV, which is Holland-based, now currently owns and has acquired the rights to Carrozzeria Touring. Established in 1926, the car manufacturer was one of the first to have lightweight models or "Superleggera". The Superleggera method, which consists of small-diameter tubular frames draped with thin-gauge aluminum sheetmetal has been seen on Aston Martins, Alfas, Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Maseratis and many other classic marques. The name Superleggera appeared on the latest Lamborghini Gallardo, but that was the only similarity between the Lamborghini and this method of car building.
Carrozzeria Touring has been planning a brand new Superleggera that is scheduled to debut in a week at the famous Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este, the classic motor show where a trophy honoring Touring's founder is awarded each year. There is not much information on the car found in the teaser shot shown above, but the car will have its debut soon. There have also been rumors that they are currently working on a Maserati "Shooting Brake" version of the Quattroporte.
Shooting Brake is a term that was used to describe wagon-style cars in older, faster models like Aston Martins and even Ferraris.
