One evening, Michael and I were walking and spotted a sign at a bar. The sign read Happy Hour starting at 6 pm. LOL I looked at Michael and remarked how many English words are used here. A couple of days later, after walking for hours and I needed a break, we came to the same bar. Michael suggested that we have a drink, yes!! my feet longed for a break.
To our delight, we had discovered something that I had read about online. Happy Hour in Milano, doesn't mean cheap drinks, it means food is served! I'm talking about some very good dishes, everything from salads, foccacia, pasta and sometimes french fries! LOL It's dinner, la cena, all you can eat, included for the price of a drink.
To my friends who have not visited Italia, a bar here serves espresso, espresso with steamed milk, tea, wine and alcohol. They open early morning and close late, often having an outside serving area, nothing short of charming!
It is my understanding that Happy Hour only happens in Milano. Lucky for us and sad for the rest of Italia. We do Happy Hour once a week now!
ciao
