Default Favorite Italian artists?

Buongiorno everyone,

I thought I'd start this thread to see what you all thought... do you have a favorite Italian artist, or one you think is terrific that we should all know about?

It can be a painter, architect, sculptor, writer, anything, from any time period. And when you name one, tell us more about him or her - when lived, what kind of work, why he/she is worth paying attention to.

I will start with a rather odd one, maybe, until you see his work. Check out Federico Castelluccio. You'll recognize him from The Sopranos, and then you need to check out his art here:http://www.federicocastelluccio.com/artwork.htm

,

From history I have dozens of names... but I'll start with this.

Teresa
