Default Help! Tax burning holes in my pocket

I am a retired person in California, aged 67. How do I decrease my property taxes? The amount of tax appears to be increasing year after year, whereas the property prices are falling. The high taxes are burning out my savings too! I need help.

Hi Nacdim

Due to your age and current financial concerns with property taxes or carrying costs to maintain your home, if you do not want to move from California to a state with fewer taxes, I suggest you visit this website. http://www.hud.gov/offices/hsg/sfh/hecm/rmtopten.cfm
Take out a reverse mortgage on your property thru this government program for seniors. You will never have to worry about paying bills and will enjoy your freedom for the rest of your lives. This is a great program for seniors especially when cash flow is tight, real estate prices are down and banks are not being corporative. If you still have a mortgage with the bank pay it off with this reverse mortgage and deal with the government program. There is a whole list of advantages at this time of your life to take out a reverse mortgage.
Can the lender take my home away if I outlive the loan?
No. You do not need to repay the loan as long as you or one of the borrowers continues to live in the house and keeps the taxes and insurance current. You can never owe more than the value of your home at the time you or your heirs sell the home.
How do I receive my payments?
You have five options:
• Tenure - equal monthly payments as long as at least one borrower lives and continues to occupy the property as a principal residence.
• Term - equal monthly payments for a fixed period of months selected.
• Line of Credit - unscheduled payments or installments, at times and in amounts of your choosing until the line of credit is exhausted.
• Modified Tenure - combination of line of credit with monthly payments for as long as you remain in the home.
• Modified Term - combination of line of credit plus monthly payments for a fixed period of months selected by the borrower.

I fully understand your cause of worry. High taxes indeed create a heavy burden. Please visit the (deleted link). Read the Book which will solve your problem. It contains an audio CD and detailed manual on how to reduce your taxes as well as get a return every year despite fluctuating property prices.

E vero Danno. He should have said something like I'm trying to save on my property tax so I'll have
more money for trips to Italy. Personally I'm trying to save on my property tax so I'll have more
money to spend on my trips to Italy.

I bought a new house in 2006 and paid troppo soldi.($740,000) It was at the high end
of the housing market. The taxes on my new house were like paying rent. Afortunatamente have since
had my taxes cut in about half.

Nacdim, I feel for you. Man, You have to file for tax relief like everybody here in California is doing.

Then file for Chapter 11 or 13 which is bankruptcy. LOL! Everyone else is doing it across the U.S. Why not you. LOL!
Was in Ritz Camera shop just yesterday and they said they're going bankrupt along with Circuit City, G.M. and the rest.

Default What ever will my wife do?

Ritz camera is her favorite Camera store, she has been doing business with them since their existence. She's going to be very unhappy and maybe I'll be a bit richer
