Rome is also the most expensive Italian city for rent (and the fourth most expensive in continental Europe, according to CEPI, an organization representing property managers and property agents in the EU Member States).
According to Fimaa’s report, one month’s rent ranges from €820 (about $€1,065 or £540) for a 70 square-metre flat in the suburbs to €1.770 (€2,300 or £1,165) for the same type of property in the centre.
The capital is also the most expensive for business property. Offices cost on average 104 per cent the price of apartments. Only for shops does the capital have a rival: the economic capital of Italy, Milan. Prices in Rome are on average €10,100 per square metre in the centre compared to €10,500 for an equivalent property in the Lombard metropolis. It’s time to wake up people, get on the motorway south to Cosenza, Calabria where Apartments and not sardine cans, rent on average for only 290 Euros per month.
