Default codice fiscale

Hi all,

I am trying to buy a house in Abruzzo but have hit a snag: to fill out my offer document (and for further documents)I need a codice fiscale certificate. I am not from the EU, so how do I get one? I do not have permesso di soggiorno and don't want one anyway but it seems I need one for getting a codice fiscale. Does anyone know anything about it?

Default Codice Fiscale

You need only your valid passport and go to the closest "Ufficio del ENTRATA" You may download it as they will formulate it for you, but you will be asked for an official document and this is not an official document.

Default codice fiscale

all you need to do is fill out a form including your residence address and local address where you intend to purchase. And they will release your codice fiscale. Remember that this is free of charge so do not pay anyone for this.

The codice fiscale is issued and managed by the Agenzia delle Entrate (Inland or Revenue Agency). Everybody, whether Italian or foreign (resident or non-resident), intending to obtain employment, start a business, open a bank account, register with the Italian Health Service, buy a property, car or mobile telephone for example, must have a codice fiscale.

It is also your personal account number allocated to you to use in all your dealings with the Inland Revenue and other public offices. Obtaining your codice fiscale is pretty straightforward and is FREE OF CHARGE.

You shold be able to obtain it via the Italian Consulate in your country of residence, or as suggested by Jacqueline, pay a visit to the Agenzia delle Entrate in the territrory where you are buying the property.

There are some web sitres that calculate your CF. DO NOT use these sites as they are not official and your number will be invalid.

I got my own codice fiscale when I was in Italy. It's like a social security number here in the states. You go to their local office and apply - you get it right there and then. I had to show my passport, that was it.
I believe there is a way to get one without being there... try Google on "codice fiscale" - I thought I was reading online somewhere recently that you can apply from the USA and get one but not sure.

Lightbulb Move over Manhattan … Renting in Rome is on the run!

Rome is also the most expensive Italian city for rent (and the fourth most expensive in continental Europe, according to CEPI, an organization representing property managers and property agents in the EU Member States).

According to Fimaa’s report, one month’s rent ranges from €820 (about $€1,065 or £540) for a 70 square-metre flat in the suburbs to €1.770 (€2,300 or £1,165) for the same type of property in the centre.
The capital is also the most expensive for business property. Offices cost on average 104 per cent the price of apartments. Only for shops does the capital have a rival: the economic capital of Italy, Milan. Prices in Rome are on average €10,100 per square metre in the centre compared to €10,500 for an equivalent property in the Lombard metropolis. It’s time to wake up people, get on the motorway south to Cosenza, Calabria where Apartments and not sardine cans, rent on average for only 290 Euros per month.

We applied for our codice ficale thru our Italian consulate in Detroit. I'm not sure if all consulates offer this service, but if you're an American it's worth taking a look at your consulate's website.
