Gosh that was lovely. I have always liked Al Bano & Romina Power. Romina is the daughter of the film star Tyrone Power & she was born in Italy when her father moved there. She is apparently named for the city of Rome (Roma - Romina). One time we were in Alberobello & we saw Romina & Al who were making a film amongst the trulli. We were very excited. I heard that in later years however the two broke up - do you know if that is true? Salute.

Power is. Many might not. I knew Anthony Quinn had lived in Italy and married an Italian but had no clue about Tryone Power.

In 1999 Al Bano announced the separation of the couple in an open letter to the weekly magazine "Oggi", in which he explained
the reasons for their decision. Romina moved to Rome where she had acquired a house in Trastevere and where she dedicated herself
to presenting a TV show ("Per Tutta La Vita" in 1999 and 2000) while Al Bano stayed in Cellino San Marco. Al Bano released "Volare"
and gave concerts in the USA, Russia, South America, Greece, Spain, Italy, Austria and Germany.

You might not know but the first doughter of Albano and Romina Power disappeared during a USA vacation. The parents looked for her for years I think searching for possible kidnappers of for the cause of her death. Recently they apparently came to the conclusion she committed suicide, anyway if somebody wants to do some research on the subject...

"After their daughter Ylenia disappeared in January 1994 in New Orleans, Al Bano and Romina cancelled their dates and
dedicated all their time to the search of their daughter. Unfortunately, the efforts of the police did not yield any
results. Romina still believes she's alive while Al Bano thinks she's dead."

This is very bizzare e molto triste.

On a side note Romina Power's father Tyrone Power who was a major Hollywood star was also a chain smoker and smoked himself to death.
He was only 44 when he died. He died in Madrid, Spain in 1958. Born in 1914 he would be around 95 if he were still alive today.

Ciao Villa - I understand that Romina was actually born in Italy where her father apparently lived for some time. I think he was married to another film star called Annabella. Tyrone Pwer was one of my favourites film stars & was marvellous in "swashbuckling" films, pirates etc.

Cara Rina, Was at the library a few months ago and checked out the DVD movie Witness for the Prosecution that had Tyrone Power in it.
I had read the book years ago. This movie was made not to long before Tyrone died so he would have been 43 since the movie
was made in 1957 and he died in 1958.
