Default Italian TV in the US

Ciao a tutti!

I just thought I'd share my experience trying to get Italian TV in my house in the US.

I have both Comcast and Dish Network, so I called them both tonight.

For Comcast, I just have $12 basic cable that I don't even watch. For some reason getting TV and internet is cheaper than just internet.

To get RAI via Comcast, I'd have to pay $3.99 for a "box", plus $14.99/month for just RAI.

Dish Network was neat...http://dishnetwork.com/content/whats.../packages.aspx

Calling the number on that page, the recording was actually in Italian, a nice touch.

I spoke to "Bonnie" and she said I was a loyal customer and so I asked for a free month of their Italian package (which is $19.99/month) and she said "YES"!

But only if my current dish would work....it wont!

She was willing to install a second dish for me free (a $200 savings) but no free month of Italian TV.

So in the end it isn't worth the hassle. If I could have gotten it free for a month I would have tried it, but not to have a second dish installed.

However, I shared this story in the chat room here and someone hooked me up with http://www.listenlive.eu/italy.html and http://beelinetv.com/italian_tv/ !!!

Now I can watch/listen to all the tv/radio I want for free whenever I want!!

I know, a long story that didn't end like it began, but I'm bored tonight and thought I'd share.

grazie tante to JoeItalia7 for the links.

A friend of mine had RAI and would record Italian programs for me on video. I took the video and put them on DVD. Have Italian programs and Italian news on them. He said it was troppo caro and has discontinued it.

Ma you can watch Italian TV for free on the internet come hanno detto.

E come se fossi poco you can get Italian TV programs on DVD.

Great isn't it.

If you're really want to learn Italian you can put a little recorder next the speaker and record the spoken Italian. Then
you can listen to it over and over again. Io lo fatto.

I think Rai TV stopped their in diretta feed, but you can watch short versions via their site

As for live streaming, I used Beeline for while and then I found Watch Live Online TV Channels - Italy

It has more channels then beeline.
