Default Hello everyone! 100% Italian living in the US

I moved here in the US almost 5 years ago and I miss my country. I was born in the North (Torino) and raised in the south (Gaeta, Roma). If you have any questions about Italy that you think I may be able to answer please contact me. I am an Interpreter and Translator and the mother of 3.

Ciao! for now...

Ciao e benvenuto Ale!

I'm looking to move to Italy in about 2 or 3 years. Io sono attrice e ballo. Is there work in the entertainment field? Do you need an agent to get booked for work?

Grazie mille!

Default Benvenuta

Benvenuta Ale. I think you will enjoy yourself here on the Forum. Maybe it will help you with your homesickness. You will find alot of friendly, caring people here on LifeinItaly.
Just wondering, do you offer your translating services to people who are trying to obtain dual Italian citizenship and require their documents to be translated? That might be a nice little source of income for you and you would be helping people in a very nice way....if that's something you are not doing already.
Ti saluto cordialmente!

Default Thank you Everybody!

That was a very nice welcome from all of you! Thank you so much!
I was born in Torino but lived almost all my life in Gaeta (between Roma and Napoli, on the coast), then 5 years in Roma where I attended the Superior School for Interpreters and Translators.

Paolo, here is the US I live in Atlanta, GA...in Buford, to be precise, about 30 minutes from downtown Atlanta and I really like Georgia...so much green! My husband was in the Army reserves in Italy and I was the front desk manager at the hotel he was staying while in Gaeta: that's how I ended us in the US!

Piccola, in the entertainment field I believe it is more or less the same everywhere. Italy has a smaller territory and there is less competition. In your field there is also a big "luck" component, of meeting the right people at the right time. I have a very good friend that works in an advertizing agency in Milano. Let me know if you want to get in touch with him, more than likely he will be able to give you better tips than I do.

Tangobunny, I am a professional Interpreter and Translator and I work as an Interpreter over the phone. I never thought about documents translation and it would be very interesting. I did it in the past: my documents, of course, and a divorce paperwork for a friend of mine. Thank you for suggesting this kind of translations. I will be happy to help!

Thank you again to all of you and I am sure I will have a great time in this Forum!

Default can you tell me?

Ciao Ale, can you tell me more about the school in roma you attended for interpreters and translators? I am thinking that I would really enjoy teaching English to Italian executives, you know, work for an Italian company that needs their workers to know English. I am getting TEFL certified before I leave the U.S. (JUly) and hopefully i will have my italian citizenship by then.
Do you have any advice for me on how to find a position like that? (I can't remember if i told you but i am moving to Siena. Do you think in a smaller city like that it would be harder to find a position? Thanks for any help you can give me. Also if anyone else is reading this wants to comment I would love that. Tangobunny
