Question Destino “Destiny”

It was 7 am as I tightly wrapped my robe around my waist and stepped out into the cool morning air from my hotel balcony in Rome. I stared out in awe mystified by its geographical and structural beauty “Bella Vista”. I then slowly tried to pin point some of the famous landmarks around the ancient romantic city of Love “Amore”.
It had been 4 long years since my last visit but this time something felt awfully strange in the air. As I stood out on the balcony, the Italian music began... starting with Church bells, early morning car horns, and directly below were the sounds of foot steps of local Italians leaving the coffee bar cheerfully off to work. It wasn’t the same feeling as when I stared out from the balconies of hotels in other major cities I had visited. This Italian noise was the least disturbing...It all sounded like music too me...flavored by an espresso aroma which lingered in the early morning air. I reached in my robe pocket and pulled out a soothing MS Italian cigarette, and continued to enjoy the view while wondering if I should just pinch myself and awaken from this dream. As the smoke cleared the air, there again appeared the ancient city of Rome...It wasn’t a dream “sogno”. I was truly back in my parent’s mother country of Italy. The country my parents left for America...was it the right move? ...but as I kept staring out into the city of Rome...I once again began to wonder why?
When I spotted St. Peters Cathedral in the short distance, suddenly the wind stopped and out of nowhere appeared two white doves ”colombe” . They were lovers standing side by side only inches away from my reach. The doves danced from one end of the railing to the other, all within the same rhythm and harmony of the roman city sounds. After several moments they nestled up against each other and kissed. Both looking directly into my eyes, they began to sing. It was like they had come to delivery me a message and as I listen more closely to the doves, they made the strangest sound… it sounded like the word “Destino” and as I softly whispered the word “Destino” out loud.. They finally flew away.

Do you believe in "Destiny".. what does it really mean?

I think I've seen the movie "The Prince and I". It sounds familure.

Am I suppose to answer the question of weather I believe in Destiny or not?

I think I know the movie, wasn't it the one about a girl falling in love with a prince, I don't remember seeing all of the movie; it's not really my exact type of movies.
as to your question frank, I think that depends on your definition to the word "destiny", I do believe in god if that is what you mean, I also believe that our decissions control our future of course with many other things, like if you haven't booked that flight you wouldn't have been able to see the doves and also if the flight was canceled for reasons that seemed out of your hands. I think that science can't explain every thing, 2000 years ago people would have called electricity, computers and mobile phones magic and completely non-scientific, so before calling something not logical or not scientific I think one should think what might be discovered in 2000 years.

Wow that was beautiful, I am a huge believer in fait and destiny and a whole "Twist of Fait" thing, I believe that maybe you should go back and see what you can do, I say that to myself all the time about my parents you left THAT for This...a life of working 24 hours a day just to pay your bills? Ma in the end maybe that was there destino...but it doesnt have to be yours. . . *Think about it *

Is this your story or are you telling someone else's story?

I assumed you were born and raised in Italy. Show how much I know if this is your story.

Destiny: The apparently predetermined and inevitable series of events that happen to somebody or something. The inner purpose of a life that can be discovered and realized or a force or energy that predetermines what will happen.

It’s my own true story but it has a very sad ending. At that moment in time, I had a spiritual experience on the balcony in Rome. This experience became a determining factor in my life that brought me back to Italy.
I had booked a flight to Rome and eventually on my way to Calabria too visit the last remaining relative who was looking after our family land. The day the doves appeared on the balcony in Rome was the same day I received word from Calabria that my relative had died. I did not make it in time to say goodbye.
To some this might sound crazy but it had much meaning to me at the time. I think we can all say that we have experienced things in our life that are hard to explain or define, some can say it was a consistence.
Call it what you want but it was this experience that inspired me to do what I am doing today and that is developing my land and building new homes in Calabria. I believe it was a calling more than my destiny!
Its strange how life works sometimes...
