WOW I love that storey!!! I also have a thing for doves. Like Bellasiciliana says our parents destiny is not ours. I struggle day to day to care for my children and suffer depression every fall when it is too cold to live life. My ancesters came here with nothing in search of a better life,, why cant we go home to return to the life that stayed in our souls. I almost think I should flip a coin to decide our fate because what ever is meant to be will be.. Our struggles will be no more there than they are here. I just cant figure out why we all seem to have this deep desire to be in Italy.

I believe you are in your rightful place! We are spiritually inspired by many different things. It can be a sound, a song or angel messages just to you. I wish you only success and fullfillment!

I 100 percent believe that your life is determined by your actions, sure the circumstances of your life affect you, but only you decide in which way, many great poets and artists were poor with no education, also many of them went to great schools, I like coehlo's definition of destiny: it's the thing/s that you truely desire and so should work soooo hard for (at least that is how I understand it)

[QUOTE=124sport;24000] One child is born into wealth, a silver spoon in his mouth. Goes to top schools,
colleges meets all the right people and he to becomes wealthy, goes to the country clubs. Another child
born into poverty. He is tempted to steal. He does, gets caught and off to jail. How can we say
there is no element of destiny??

This is good.

Over 90% of the world population is poor. Trying telling them it was their destiny to be that way.

Some of the most successful and wealthy people were born into poverty and climbed out, others, born privilidged, sunk to depths beyond imagination. Certainly your start in life has a heavy influence, but who's to say we are "master of our own destiny"? Do we really have a free choice in what we do? Or do our genes dictate that whatever our "normal, rational" thoughts may be, we will still take the pre-destined path

I think that money and power aren't nessecarily good, remember spiderman? with great power comes great responsibility? I think every one is put in the circumtances in which he/she would do best, not every one is cut for the president's seat and not every one can survive with little money, one shouldn't waste time complaining about the circummstances, instead on should know what one wants and go out and get it.

Bravo Nouran! Paulo Coelho's books are incredibly inspiring. He is a wonderful writer. I have read many of his books, The Alchemist being my favourite.

Love your story Frank. I believe the universe shows us signs from time to time to guide us. You are most definitely supposed to be here in Italy. Frank read The Alchemist. It may give you clarity......

Also thanks for starting such a thought inspiring thread. I know I have been 'sent' here to Italy for a reason. I'm yet to discover why. Funny I found this thread because just a couple of days ago I felt myself finally exhale. I feel like I have just taken my first deep breath since arriving here in Feb. To say it's been a stressful move is an understatement. I don't think I've been fighting assimilation I think hadn't had a chance to lift my head and take a look around me. I feel at peace all of a sudden. Maybe now I might be ready for the universe to reveal the purpose of my move....... Keep us updated if you are given another sign

Hi Frank,

A beautiful story and an example of how nature gently nudges us towards our destiny, that which our heart desires and what fulfills us - the reason for living in other words. The doves were there to help you see what your heart already knew, but just needed reminding, this is my home. You were not too late really, were you, you may not have said goodbye but you have taken root in Calabria and are continuing where they left off. Buona fortuna,

Liz
