Default finding family
by Jill 07-28-2007, 07:26 PM

My grandmother comes from Reggio Calabria. Her maiden name is Scrivo. First name is Theresina. She lived worked for her aunt in a boarding house around 1900 or so, met my grandfater, Antonio Valotto from the north. Left her aunt's home & went with him to Tunisia and then to NY. Trying to find familly background. Any help or ideas?

Have you tried to research records from Ellis Island? Try http://www.ellisisland.org/search/passSearch.asp? You might find some info and work your way back to Italy.

Hi there Jill, I live in Reggio Calabria; I just had a look at the Phone Directory! There are some families going by the name of SCRIVO (a very rare name here) do you want me to email the info?

nduja - It is very kind of you to reply to this post, but as Jill doesn't appear to have been online since last year, I would suggest sending an email to the address on her profile - if she hasn't had any luck, I'm sure she would be grateful for your help.

Is anyone familiar with Sersale. My husband's grandfather was born there. Last name Mancuso.
