I've been reading your BLOGS. It's interesting. I am planning on moving to Italy for work. And also need advice on rental and food shopping. Will you be living alone? When are planning on leaving? I'm from Canada, where are you from?
Nice to meet you all.
I cannot wait to live in Italy

Maria

Si, capisco un po'. I used to study Italian for a while, but that was a long time ago and I am rusty. I can probably get by with asking for directions and buying food, but not much else. I probably should start reading La Gazzetta dello Sport again just to see if I can read the headlines.

Maria, I'm planning to leave next March.

Kitten, headlines of newspapers aren't great for practising reading a language, as their sentences are very different from common usage. Lots of wordplay, very telegraphic, made to hit the reader!
Have you found what you were looking for yet?
Between 200 and 300€ per month (utilities excluded) it's a bargain and you should take the chance asap. Sadly I don't think you'll find so good a price!

I'll keep in mind the newspapers, thanks!

I haven't found a suitable place yet. Student Living say they can't tell me about the availability yet, so I have to wait. I think you mean a room (€200 - €300) rather than a studio flat, which is what I'm looking for. I haven't made a booking because I don't want to send money over before knowing whether they have what I'm looking for.

If anyone has any connections or anything regarding suitable housing, please send them my way! I'll be eternally grateful!

Ahh, I thought I'd found a place, but got a reply to ask me to check back again in January next year. I know it's really early, but I was hoping to settle accommodation in advance because I don't know how long it'd take for the visa to be approved. I guess by the time I check back in January, the studio might have been rented out.

*discouraged*

Ciao Kitty, I just found the address of this place I stayed in Perugia while
waiting to find an apartment. Ricordati che I arrived in Perugia without a place to stay. It's only 20 euros a day.

Affittacamere - Rooms for Rent
Monni Guerriero
Corso Garibaldi 202
Tel. 07541423

Corso Garibaldi street is a small street right off the Universita di Perugia's main building. When I finally got my apartment it was also on a little side street right off Corso Garibaldi.

At any rate if you ever go to Perugia without a reservation you can always stay at this place until you get an apartment. There must be anche many such place around Perugia.

Thanks Villa for the address! Do you know if this place has an email address? If not, I guess I'll have to call. I hope they speak English!

I think one of the problems is that the places I contacted aren't letting me book a place this early (since I plan to go in March). Most of them asked me to check back again in December or January. I hope this place lets me book early.

I think I'll need a reservation for accommodation because otherwise my visa won't be approved. It's stated in the visa that I have to have lodgings secured first.

Once again, many thanks for your help, Villa!

Kitty, how long are staying for? I went to Perugia without any accommodation approval. Forse because
you're staying for over 3 months?

A proposito/by the way, are you studying and trying to learn Italian adesso?
