Default New User - Couple of questions

Hello to all. I plan on moving to Italy in the next 5 years (I like to plan way ahead), and have gotten pretty much all of the information I knowingly need about the move. Consulates, citizenship, tax codes, money, etc. There are certain questions however, that I just can't find answers to, but then again I wouldnt expect to anyway, so Im hoping you all can help me.

1. I am sober, and knowing Italy's wine culture, and I going to run into constant social stigmas refusing alcohol from neighbors, restaurants, etc?

2. Is there anyway to get an American style cup of coffee, without it being an Americano? Per the above comment, because I don't drink alcohol, I drink an enormously large amount of coffee. If there is nowhere to get an American style cup of coffee, would the people in my future locale want to kill me if I opened a cafe that did?

3. What are the typical operating hours for restaurants and cafes?

4. If this matters, the area I am looking in is Como. So if the Milan/Como area changes any of the above questions, please advise.

5. If anyone does live in the Milan/Como area, and more specifically Como, if you have any specific wisdom to the life there I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you all for your time.

Welcome here, and good luck with the move!
Now the questions:
1) Not at all, many people don't drink wine here, I don't particularly appreciate it too. No one will say you anything, you'll just lose some of the fun
2) They would not kill you, but you won't sell one single cup in centuries. We don't like that black water you call coffee, and you can probably find it only in a dozen of place around Italy. But don't worry, once you get used to the strong taste of Italian coffee you won't be able to do without.
3) The hours can vary alot dipending on month and place. Generally bars open around 7AM and close around 8PM, and in big cities they don't do the lunch pause.
4) I'm never been in Como so I wouldn't know, but I suppose it wouldn't change much.

Welcome again!

vitalogy20: Good questions since I don't drink much alcohol nor do I drink coffee! I also avoid sodas too, so I know I'll stick out like crazy!
