| | Live in Italy?
Hi guys!
As some of you may know, my DREAM is to live in Italy one day... I've been doing a lot of research and thinking about my options recently, even though I know it's a bit early. Still, I'll lay it all out for you and hopefully you can give me some advice!
Well, I'm finishing my last year of college. In September I'll be studying at McGill University (English lit. and perhaps a minor in History) and at some point after getting my Bachelors, I'm hoping to continue up to PHD at Oxford. Scholarship is naturally the best way but my mom said she'd pay the tuition or try to do something about it for me. Anyways, even if I don't go to Oxford, I do want to live in Europe. My main idea is to study, get my papers, and then apply for a job in Italy. I'd like to teach English literature! However, I'm not Italian, nor European, and don't have the papers necessary...
I've read alot about immigration to Italy and it seems super strict on the Internet/official sites. However, people that I know (some professors and friends) tell me that it's actually much easier to get accepted, especially when you apply for a work visa. Is this true? Any tips on what I can do?
PLEASE do not blow up my bubble. Even if you do, I will still obsess over Italy and move there... somehow!
Grazie miei amici e amiche!

I do not believe you will have many obstacles especially if you have a fine Degree from Oxford , you will have a lot to offer Italy Countries only make it difficult when it is just a move / I work in Aero Space and my company does a lot of work with the Russians for the U.S. and Russian Space programes. The Russians that come here to Florida to work have engineering degrees and are just not blue collar workers with that said the U.S. bends over backwards for them ! also a couple of my friends married Russians that came here just for research reasons and I did not see that it was a big problem , bottom line a Good degree will help !I think Italy is smart enough to figure that out . |

Thanks for the encouragement! I needed to hear something along those lines. Many of my friends and teachers also have a similar mindset. I think things like this probably seem much stricter on paper or in "regulation" format, but aren't all that impossible when it comes down to actual practice!

Grazie miei amici e amiche! | I think you may need a "stay permit" and a work visa
Since you're are from montreal you can go to the italian consulate for information

by the way what is becoming more and more intollerated in italy is the clandestine immigration, but you are so beautiful that everything is allowed to you

Thanks for the information! I may ask them some questions earlier than I'd expected!
And as for your final comment - Yes, I know they are becoming intolerant. I read a whole article on it! (It was in Italian so I'm proud ) Thanks for the compliment, though! =)

VitaBella, I lived in Italy for two years and in 2007 went back to school in Perugia to the Universita di Perugia.
I suggest at some point you attend an Italian university. I got a scholarship and had everything paid for. There
were many people going to the Universita di Perugia on scholarships. You should do the samething qualche giorno.

I've thought about doing that, Villa... Naturally, that would be the best alternative for me!... I will look at the different scholarships available when the time comes. Hopefully one for an Italian university will be available.
Thanks for the reassurance everyone! =) There are no huge red flags, at least!

Start out as a university student or with a work permit, then i imagine as time passes and the longer you are permitted to stay in italy if you eventually fall in love with and marry an Italian citizen then through marriage you would eventually gain your citizenship, since you are not eligible through blood line. It happens....anyway, if you keep the image of yourself living in italy foremost in your consciousness, the universe will comply when the time is right.
