Default Info about moving to Italy

I am moving to Italy at wedensday, and I have some questions I would like to get some help with if possible.
I hope that there is someone in here that had had the same concerns as me when they moved to Italy, and can share me good experiences for what to do and where to go.

I am moving together with my girlfriend which is Italian and lives in Milano.
So my biggest concerns are about insurance/health/rules/etc.

1) I am a Danish citizen and what I found out so far is that I can work and stay in Italy without any problem because of EU relations/rules. But how about health care and insurance?

2) Do I need a private healt insurance? And if I do, does anyone know a website to buy one or a company they had good experience with?

3) As I got told last time I were in Italy is, that I don't need to contact the police about where I am before I have been in Italy for 3 months, is that correct, or is there something else I should do?

4) And at last, is there something important I should know or do?

Hope to get some help with these important questions.

I lived in Italy for two years. I had the greatest time of my life. You are so lucky to be able to live in Italy. Don't worry about anything.

If your girlfriend is Italian you'll have no problems at all.

In answer to #4. Yes, there is something you should do. Learn Italian. When you learn Italian a whole new wonderful world will open up for you.

There's public and private healtcare.
Everybody's entitled to public healtcare (you pay for it with taxes and tickets for specific exams).
Private healtcare is more efficient (read: faster if you need something urgent - like an eye or tooth exam).

If you land a regular job and you have a contract, your workplace will surely have some form of insurance that covers accidents that may happen at the workplace.
For every other kind of insurance, you must contact a private company. Notice that insurance is mandatory for driving a car.

Performance and costs of insurance companies varies a lot from region to region. You should talk with some local people and ask around for quotes.

Private health insurance is not mandatory, but can be useful. See answer above: ask to your girlfriend and her friends, since prices and performances vary a lot from region to region.

I confirm that you must communicate to the police where are you staying. I honestly don't know if you need other kinds of permits.
Try to take a look at our Minister of Internal Affairs website

http://www.interno.it/mininterno/exp...glish_version/

And ask to an Italian Embassy/Consulate near you. Take a look also to the EU website.
