Default Not in good taste

I've noticed that over the last week or so there have been a number of posts by people overtly advertising their professional services or goods. Now while I agree that one of the main strengths of this forum is to help and advise its members, am I the only one who finds these posts are not keeping to the spirit of the forum?

I remove a lot of this posts - every day - sometimes if a post advertise a service but whoever posts it adds something to the forum I do not delete them.
Justin usually helps me with the cleaing up and he was on vacation last week - He must be glad that somebody noticed it.

I have noticed this self-advertising thing too, but am not sure exactly which ones to remove. The outright spam I remove rightaway, but then there are those which talk about this and that and could just be genuine........any words of advice, please?

Default Post Removal

Thanks bubbles and sardoman for taking notice. As Paolo stated we usually get rid of most of them between the two of us. But it does seem like it comes in waves - sometimes there are very few to remove, other times its like we're under attack.

bubbles has done a great job sending us notifications about possible spam messages in the past...keep up the good work!

And considering that today is Thanksgiving here in the US, I want to thank all of you who help make this little community of ours so great. I have seen other online forums that are just drowning in spam - so once again thanks for the help.

Sardoman, I feel you'd make a good moderator, and I 'm sure Paolo and Justin can use all the help we can give them

I'm not keen on the advertising either, but sometimes it's actually interesting so I don't mind. You are all doing a great job, so keep it up!

Best,
Lisa

Based on my experience with spam-handling on other webforums you're doing a great job As long as the adverts aren't overtly aggressive or intrusive and undoubtly related to the current discussions, I really can't see too big a problem with it. But what would I know, haven't been here so long.
