I'm a woman and I agree with Zid - tone the article down a bit and you have a pretty good starting point for a healthy relationship. I don't mind which sex is the wife and which sex is the husband - but if one goes out to earn the money then the other should take their work in the home seriously.

The "husband" comes home tired and finds everything in order - prepared by the "wife" - so this means the "husband" is happy, which in turn means that the "wife" will be happy too. Happy relaxed atmosphere means happy relaxed relationship.

I believe it's all about balance and respect for the roles of both. The minute one starts to abuse his or her "power" (or the partner) in the marriage, it will take a downward slide.

How about the husband comes home tired, to find his wife tired, after looking after the children. Of course the work in the home should be taken seriously - it is a full time job that is very often underestimated. For those women who also go out to work, the full-time job of the household is still very often left to her too, on the side :-)

Don't even start me off on the last sentence in that article.

Sienna is right, even women that do work full-time and those who have higher and more stressful jobs than their husbands still do most of the housework, giving us females a dual burden, because of society's views on gender roles. This is wrong in my opinion, seriosuly nowadays there needs to be a balance of power in the household, especially if the woman works full time, otherwise thats just plain unfair. Also, to persume that the woman is suboridnate to the man is just reinforcing patriarchy, wow that article was sexist, concidering how it wasnt published as a joke, but a serious piece of propaganda at the time. Ah wells, things have improved to an extent luckily.(still room for improvment though!) And well also the points on there which maintain a healthy relationship(as pointed out by others)should be respected by both genders, though they are very important duties for a healthy relation ship i must admitt!

guys, i think the article is not that sexist as some of you see it
maybe it's going towards the comfort of the husband (just a lil bit)
i suppose that if the man is feeling happy and relaxed in his house, then he will make his spouse happy too
because he is satisfied now. and the reason that make him satisfied is his wife. he will do many sweet things to her in return
and that's how they will build a very cheerful family

the problem is that not all men have the feeling of giving back the kindness to their women .. but they are rare i think
coz even animals (sorry for that) have the sense of giving back the good

and i'll repeat it again .. I'm NOT completely agreeing with the article

Can we all just agree that every person (and therefore couple) is different and so there is no such thing as “THE LIST FOR A HAPPY MARRIAGE” because what works for you might not work for me and vice versa? And that every couple makes there own list? And that list should be done by the consent of both partners and that it shouldn’t be biased towards one partner against the other?
