Default Touring Italy by Motorcycle

I have been riding motorcycles for ( too ) many years. Anyway hopefully in 2007 I would like to organize a week touring in Italy. I live in the US now but go there 4 or 5 times a year so I know my way around pretty well.
Anybody interested in the proposal should post an answer to this thread.
Ciao
Paolo

Default Touring Italy by Motorcyle!

I'm in!
Oh wait, I don't have a motorcyle.

Well, if anyone wants a person on the back of their bike on this tour, I'm there!

Seriously, I think it's a fabulous idea, and I hope Paolo gets enough people to go. Maybe I'll be the chase car, and follow with tools and such, and give rides to passengers who need a break, and go ahead to find hotel rooms.

Teresa

Default Italy by bike

Paolo,

Are you still thinking about this idea?
What time of the year would you want to go?

Default Moto Italy

I would like to discuss a question that is--I'm sure out in left field.
Do guys ride on the same bike in the states or in other anglo countries like the Italians do? If they do, does the one in the back hug the one in the front???

Default Men on Motorcycles

Jacqueline,

I know they ride double in the movies... and they do hug the driver in front.

In real life, I'm not sure but I would think this would be less of an issue for Italian men (and most other men than American) who are less freaked out by physical contact.

Driving in the cities requires a little bit of more courage... Outside the cities it is more or less the same as rding in the US maybe at a higher speed than you would ride an HD in the US but more or less the same. I wrote a couple of articlea bout driving / riding in Italy - REad them and then you can ask more questions. You can also see this funny Vespa video made by an American living in Naples :

Default Motorcycle rides

Hi James
There are two possible trips coming one on the Alps in July - One in Tuscany toward the end of September. You can check the motorcycle folder at http://www.lifeinitaly.com/motorcycle/
