Default rent Vespa in Tuscany

Hi,

For several years we've been dreaming to rent a real classic Italian Vespa if we're in Tuscany, and discover the breathtaking landscapes in a real Italian way. We have already booked a house near Arezzo. I've seen several links on the internet for guided or unguided tours across Tuscany, but we want to do everything on our rhythm. Should it be possible to rent a real Vespa somewhere in Arezzo or Cortona for a day of two, three, but not in combination with a tour?

Thank you!
lieven

You should probably look into when you will be in Italy. You might be able to find something here but vespa rentals are not as organized as car rentals. In which period did you think about going ?
Peak time for motorcycle rentals is June.

Thanks for your reply, Paulo!

We've just booked our stay; it's from the 11th to the 19th of july 2008. So in this period we hope to rent a Vespa for two or three days.
Last year we've seen a real Vespa shop in Arezzo, they rent theirs certainly, but I can't find a phone number or website of it, and it seems better to me to book something in advance.

Does anybody know other adresses in the region of Arezzo-Cortona where we can rent Vespa's?

Thanks a lot!

Lieven,

I didn't find anything in the Arezzo-Cortona area, but I found a place in Florence and one in Perugia where you can rent a vespa.

I was just looking at what they rent an R1200 GS for. A whopping €950 per week and a whopping €700 per week for an R1100 GS which hasn't been made since 1999.

I'm glad I use my own GS. Wow!

Actually Euro 950 per week for a 1200 GS sounds just average.
Do not forget that the GS costs a lot more in Italy due to the Euro / Dollar exchange rate and Insurance for Bikes is very expensive. I do have a GS here in the US and one in Italy so I am aware of cost in both countries.

I was comparing them to rates I've come across on the web that are almost €200 less per week. I've never seen rentals in the 900s yet. Nuts!

So do I, Paulo.

In any case, rental rates are out to lunch which is why I use my own. At the above rates, I've almost broken even after 14 weeks of use in the last three years.

You're right Paulo.

That same bike from that same company, but rented in Barcelona is €695, a whole €255 per week cheaper. Well something is making it overly expensive.

From Allround Motorradvermietung in Frankfurt, the R1200 GS rents for €679 the first week and €559 for every week thereafter. Thats is more what I am used to seeing.
