I haven't posted to the site in a while so thought I'd come in with a bang... so to speak. I hope I'm not repeating someone else's post here.

I'm headed to Italy on Wed, October 8, and have been checking the newsfeeds for info on the economic situation, wondering if I'll be stuck in Italy once I get there, and trying to figure out if I need to take less money than more...

And I ran into this article about wife swapping. Any thoughts?

This is too much. Wonder what the Pope thinks about this.
One time the Pope was complaining about people having sex out of wedlock. Somebody told him, "If you don-tah play-ah the game-ah don-tah make-cah dah rules."

From the article above : "If a new report is to be believed, it seems a quarter of all Italian couples regularly take part in wife swapping.
The revelation comes not from the seedier quarters of the country that gave the world Casanova, but from the usually po-faced pages of national broadsheet La Stampa. According to yesterday's front page article, entitled "The Lunch Time Swingers", an estimated 500,000 Italian couples are officially swapping partners at private sex clubs, with thousands more doing it in a more ad-hoc fashion in car parks, specially designated beaches or even cemeteries.
" The average age of male participants is 43, while the swapped women tend to be younger at 35, and it is no longer a furtive after-dark activity but one that can "even take place during one's lunch hour." As one employee of the Club Malizia in Milan confirmed, "We see all sorts of people ... the thing that links them is that they have no money worries – accountants, doctors, even footballers and politicians.

Establishments such as the Magic Nuar, far from being an aberration, are very much part of the married life of many an Italian couple, according to La Stampa. Lara, who grew up in the Sicilian town of Catania, recounted how she felt herself suffocating during her traditional upbringing, her father requiring her to be home by 9.30pm. She fled as soon as possible to a university education in Rome during which she met Luca, the man who introduced her to wife swapping.

Nowadays, Lara and her husband Luca leave the kids at home and go out for the night to have, as she puts it, "a nice evening of group sex."



Well...the number might be an exageration however I personally have friends who practice wife swapping and they do seem pretty happy with the results. This couples I know are are now in their 40s and have no kids and that facilitate a lot I think the process.

Wife swapping in the U.S. has been talked about since the 60's. It's very old news for us. Does this mean that somethings start over
here in the U.S. and then go to Italy? Things such as wife swapping, women's rights, civil rights, gay rights etc. etc.?I know from
my recent and many trips to the mid-western U.S. they always seem 2 to 5 years behind what we are doing currently in California.

I think Italians (the men at least!) have always been way ahead of the rest of the world in "extra-matrimonial activities"

It's a Latin thing. All 21 Spanish speaking countries are famous for extra-matrimonial affairs. A Mexican
friend of mine here in California has his wife and 4 kids and then his other casa pequena. His wife said his father did the samething.
It's a tradition. A macho thing you know.

There was supposed to be a new show on the Fall TV schedule that was about Wife Swapping in the '70's but I don't think it lasted long because I haven't seen any adds for it lateley. Maybe we weren't ready for it.
If there is wife swapping going on it is probably with the other 35% of Americans who aren't fat
So what exactly are you interested in the topic of wife swapping in Italy or the sex?

In the UK, marriage is at such a low point that this hardly exists - it was much talked about in the 70's, but now so few couples get married so it's not really an issue - if there's no commitment to start with, it's no big deal who sleeps with whom. Sad, but true.
