I see your point Villa but that doesn't mean that the Catholic Church in 1992 had the same viewpoint as the Catholic Church of the middle ages. They may be slow to correct errors but that is a different story. The Catholic Church in 1992 would have never said that the earth was the center of the universe. I was a student in a Catholic Junior High School in 1992 and in our science classes we learned that Gallileo was right.

the problem is that movies show aliens as green evil creature who are smarter than us but have no heart to love and that's why they always lose (except in "the invasion of the body snatchers" we were too dumb to win )
the way i see it if it drinks and is present outside our Earth then it's an Alien, unicellular creatures like bacteria and stuff if present on mars then they are marsians, they don't have to have UFOs

It's like anything else Villa, the Church knows that it has to keep up with the times without betraying its core values. They don't want to make the same mistake again that they made with Gallileo by claiming that there is no possibility of the existence of Alien life. If the church were to say that the faithful were required to reject such an idea, then would you call them anti-science and anti-progress?

I believe it's true. Sad though - not content with bombing our own planet in search of illusive "weapons of mass destruction", we now have to bomb the moon in search of water. I'm sure the starving in Africa would agree it's money well spent

I agree - we probably can't feed the hungry without scientific research, I just don't think bombing the moon is a good idea - surely there must be other less destructive ways. The moon's gravity affects everyone on the planet through tides etc., and I don't think the US should start messing with it unilaterally.
