| | Bulllets are flying off the shelves in the U.S. This is shear madness!!
As fears of gun limits boost firearm sales, shops nationwide in the U.S. struggle to cope with demand for ammo and guns.
You know some how I just don't feel too safe knowing that all this ammo and guns are around. As if things weren't bad enough before.
What a contrast to this past summer when I was in Trento, Italy(actually north of Trento in Fondo, Italy).
I've never felt safer in my whole life. No gangs, no drive by shootings, just peaceful people etc. etc. A pure heaven of a place. Paradise on earth,
with cool green forests, lakes an streams.
Do we have to move to Italy to be or feel safe?! At least places like Fondo, Italy.

Did you see the movie or documentary "Bowling for Columbine?"
In the movie they point out that Canada actually has about the
same amount of guns as the U.S. but it's other circumstances in
the U.S. that cause such violence with those guns. And how about
that interview with the NRA president Charlton Heston
and his racist comments?

Good! This is not madness...law abiding people have a right to keep and bear arms! If everyone knew how to properly use a gun for self defense purposes, our world would be a lot safer!

I am with Villa on this one. Europe, thanks gun control, has a lot fewer homicides than the US . I posted stats before on this forum on this same subject. It is too late to outlaw guns in the US now since such a large number is around but we should start moving toward that concept, I think.
PS I have seen bowling for Columbine but it was a while ago, I think I remember Charlton Heston but I do not remember his comment.

I agree, Americans controll stupid things like nobody could be nude in public places like parks but anybody could buy guns. I would rather see naked men (especually good looking ones :-) then armed men.
I personally had a brush with shooting.... When I came to the US I was a very poor student so I walked to the University every day following the same route. It was in Chicago. And I walked through middle class neighboorhoods. One day I got sick and staied home. That day there was a shooting on the street that I walked every day for a year before that.

This discussion is unbelievable for an Italian living in Italy. Here the weapons are absolutely outlaw and to get a special permit to have firearms in your own home is very difficult, and the max result is to use a rifle for the Olimpic Skeet! I can't say the same for some (very few) foreign people but they are prosecuted by law, of course.

I have always found a good amount of American laws completely unforgivable and absurde, a nation that wants to be the greatest civilized power of the world, yet has laws that would be considered Medieval in any European country.
And the law on weapons is maybe the worst one, in whatever place where a book or a hug is valued more than a gun that law is ridicolous. But you know, some fool people need a false sense of safety, no matter if they're even more endangered by having a gun
Giacomo, whether your comment was sarcastic, or you should expand the concept and explain how exactly more guns = more safety (seems weird to me).
But I believe you're sarcastic, I'm not a good detector of sarcasm (internet + another language make you lose some shade of meaning).

No, Giacomo's comment is not sarcasm on his part. Giacomo is an American gun nut. Don't you remember the discussion on guns in America we've had before and the things he said? Tell'em Gia.

Well, if it's so I'd like him to explain himself a little better, hard to discuss with a single line put as a steady statement.
