Should I interpret your response to mean that you feel you have lost the argument considering you didn't even re-but my statement and seem to be changing the subject?

[QUOTE=Villa;26732]Same with Canada. So why does the U.S. have such a high murder rate if the Swiss are armed just as much but have a lower murder rate?

I asked you this question. What is your answer and do you remember the racist remark Charleston Heston made?

Giacomo
The problem with responding to your statement is that we would have to accumulate lots of stats and getting in the research takes time - and on a subject like this we would never be able to change each other position. It is something I have done before but I cannot find it now. As you saw before however for anybody who was actually born in Italy gun laws in the US make no sense. Of course with over 200 million guns in the country it is impossible to outlaw them suddenly or only the criminal will have guns. What I would do is instead move toward disarmament but it would take a lot of time.
Anyway :
Here are stats of Murder by capita - Now somebody should put together which country has gun control and which does not
Murders (per capita) statistics - countries compared - NationMaster

Well according to those statistics US are in the middle of Bulgaria and Armenia, both in the influence area of Soviet Union, and not notorious for their safety and quietness.

In any case Daniele it is impressive how more dangerous are the first countries ( Columbia and ex Soviet ) comparing them to the rest of the world - The US statistically speaking is in a very different category even thought it has 4 times the number of murder per caput compare to Italy it is safe compared to the the top 4 in the list.
So according to the stats in Columbia you have 15 times more chances to get killed than in the US and 60 times more than in Italy -
...now I have no idea how is gun control in the top countries... anybody ??

I don't know exact regulations in Russia, but the country functions as following: there are laws that nobody follows and there is "black" or "Under" market for EVERYTHING. YOu can buy ANYTHING YOU WANT behind the scene. YOu can bribe anybody you want and get what ever permit/patent/permission you need.

So regardless of the law, one can have a gun in Russia if he wants and can afford it. It is a matter of money.

With that said Russians are very pieceful. As you may notice from the knowledge of history, Russians didn't start a single war. But in a 1,000 years long history Russians won all but one invasion (we lost to Chingis Hun in early 1200). Our most popular saying is, "We don't attack first, but whoever comes to us with the sward will DIE FROM THAT SWARD." So guns are not that popular in Russia at all.

Man Accidentally Shoots, Kills Fiancee Day Before Wedding
Saturday, October 10, 2009

WINTER SPRINGS, Fla. — A man who thought there was an intruder in his house shot and killed his fiancee the day before they were to be married, police said Friday.

"Right now everything points to a tragic accident," Police Chief Kevin Brunelle told The Associated Press, adding investigators were awaiting forensic results.

John Tabutt, 62, told investigators he got his gun when he thought he heard an intruder, then fired at a figure in the hallway, according to Brunelle. It was Tabutt's live-in fiancee, 62-year-old Nancy Dinsmore, who family members say he was going to marry Saturday. Tabutt told authorities he thought she was next to him in bed the whole time.

I have to agree with Zidanie5 on this one. I think that gun use is dangerous and unhealthy. I saw the video and I found it interesting but something I have learnt well statistics lie. I read in the paper that Canada has more crimes then the states according to statics but then when you read the sources the types of crimes vary gravely and in the end in order to get a proper statistic one must compare apples to apples. So moral of the story just cause I read or watch something I don't believe it. lol.
