Default Using Facebook to find relatives in Italy?

Ciao tutti!

I have spent much too much time over in the controversial issues threads of late. Frank seems to seduce me into his provocative world news flashes and commentaries.

Say? I have recently joined FaceBook and found it useful in locating some of my long lost relatives in Italy! Both my grandfather's family name and my grandmother's family name have FB groups.

I was able to do some sleuthing and ask a questions of a few people in each of the groups and I found my second cousins on my grandmother's side and third cousins on my grandfather's side!

I have been trading emails with one of my younger cousins on my grandmother's side for a couple weeks now. She is attending university in Roma right now - but is headed back to her home village in Sicilia for the Easter week-end. Hopefully we are going to arrange a Skype session between her family and mine this Saturday or Sunday!

Has anyone else tried this approach to reconnecting with relatives in Italy?

Ciao,
Carlo

Yes I too have re-connected to my Italian relatives all over Italy after nmay years of losing touch. This was because a couple of my grandchildren were contacted on Face Book to see if they were of the family. I was thrilled to bits & am now in constant touch via e.mail.

I have. I found a bunch of people in Italy that could very well be my relatives. Problem is that i found out my name is VERY popular in a specific town. So popular in fact that someone wrote a book about the surname. So until i can get sample of their blood tested, i dont know if ill know anytime soon.

What a great topic!

You can use our site, LifeinItaly.com to find friends and family members in Italy. And here is a success story of one of the users who did:

An e-mail to Paolo, our site administrator from Peter nLeonard:

Hi Paolo
I just wanted to share something with you.
When I first registered with Life in Italy, I posted a request for family to get in touch.
Just a few weeks ago a Lady in France contacted me.
She had found my message on the internet, during a search.
Her Grandfather Andrea, was my Grandfather Giovanni's brother.
We have learned a great deal, my brother Mario and I, about our Italian family, from the concise genealogy that Regine Febry has since provided us with.
I just wanted to say 'Thanks' to you, and the web site, without which it would never have happened.
It is early days yet, but I am hoping to meet, and make the acquaintance of lots of family members.

Yours Peter Leonard

Also LifeinItaly already has a page on Facebook. Look it up and join as a fan (please note that the page is still being developed). You can use LifeinItaly Facebook page in the future to search for your relatives on the Facebook.

Good luck and please share your search stories on the forum as it will be interesting to read and may be beneficiary to others to learn about some search tips

Ciao,
Carlo
Ha...Ha...very funny Carlo….
Unfortunately, we must “Face” up to the fact there is a blockage or virus called the “Pre-Ejaculation syndrome” which is preventing controversial issues from climaxing and reaching the “big O”.
I have to do some extensive research before posting and come up with a cure to stop this blockage or virus. It wont be cheap... a 100 US for each of my new post.
