Finding Family
At Paolo's suggestion, I share the following.
When I first registered on Life in Italy, it was to try to find family and relatives, in addition to enjoying things Italian.
I posted a request for relatives however distant to get in touch. I don't think I phrased it like that, but that was my intention.
Recently, as a direct result of that, and the information which I provided, I was contacted, by a family member.
The lady, who resides in France, is the daughter of my mother's cousin, and has provided my brother and I, with an extensive genealogy of our family.
In particular, we have learnt of a Great Aunt, of whom we new nothing, and numerous cousins and second cousins.
My brother says that "there are more relatives now, than you can shake a stick at". I hope that eventually we shall meet, and get to know each other well.
In the meantime we are communicating via email. Other interested members of the family have been in contact with her too.
I share this, in order to encourage others to do like wise, and don't give up hope.
I was surprised, and delighted when I received her first email.
So there is always the possibility of someone being out there, having the same desire as oneself, to learn about the family, so make sure you post your details.
Should I have anything of relevance to report in the future, I will do so.
Meanwhile thanks to Life in Italy........
Peter
