Default Where do Italians go for vacations out of Italy?

Just wondering too if Italians are still going a lot to Cuba come prima adesso. There is a movie called Azucar Amarga where this Italian tourist gets involved in a love triangle in Cuba. He speaks Italian to them while they speak Spanish back to him and they have no trouble communicating.

I've seen in Italian movies where they talk about going to Cuba and have heard a lot about Italians going to Cuba along with Germans and other European tourists.

Russians travel to Cuba too... Castro likes us ;-) Russians and Cubans had open borders during the soviet era. I'm not sure it still holds now. I missed my chance as the idea to travel to Cuba and the whole situation between the US and Cuba occured to me days after I became a US citizen. I simply was too busy with the grad school and didn't think about it before hand... Otherwise I would have traveled there. But I still hope I'll have a chance in my life time.

On a separate note, it is true, that Italian and Spanish languages are very similar. Even though Italian is not my native language, I can convers with Spanish people about basic subjects, such as ordering food. The similarity between the two languages is not unique to Italian and Spanish. Just an interesting exaple, Russian language is very similar with Bulgarian and Ukranian languages and to some degree with Polish language. People from these four countries can speak their respective languages and understand each other (of course the subjects need to be simple).

Generalising alot:
Young people love Prague, London, Berlin, Amsterdam, well every city full of life and fun.
Older people prefer touristic stuff in resorts, Caribbean Isles or Maldive or Sharm El Sheik.

A lot of Italians are flooding Spain, and Barcelona in particular, in the last years.
A few are even buying homes in Barcelona.

Italians go there mainly for the lively nightlife and for the monuments.

I'm taking a wild guess here but I would imagine that some Italians from the north may visit France too. I have heard that some northern Italians speak a little French in regions like Valle D'Aosta. Anyone who lives in Italy please feel free to correct me if you believe I am wrong.

When I was in Italy in September I was told many Italian families go to Rimini because of the children's animation.

The thread is about outbound tourism from Italy, but I want to point out a thing: families use kids animation as an alibi for going to Rimini, while the true reason lays on the active nightlife (and on many disposable women for cheating husbands)

The only word that I was going to write in response to Zidanie's last post was "ouch" but I got a message saying that my post was too short. lol

It's kind of ironic because there are a lot of people in Italy from Peru. Of course they are there to work not to play. When I went to study Italian in 2007 there was a whole community of people from Peru in Perugia. They had their own cultural events and all. Also many people from Ecuador were there. This past summer 2009 in Vicenza who should I run into but three guys from Peru and one from Ecuador walking down the street tutti boracho.
