| | Question, Ferry -Palermo to Naples
I will need to travel as a tourist from Palermo to Naples in early January 2010. I could easily travel by train, but I'm feeling a bit adventurous, and I'd like to take the ferry instead.
I'm Australian, aged 64, I like a bit of comfort in my old age, but I'm used to roughing it a bit.
What Im wondering is that If I book a shared cabin for the night on the ferry, who might I have to share it with?
Has anyone here traveled on this ferry?
I'd love to hear what they have to say.
Phil.

The cheapest seems to be with Tirrenia, Palermo Napoli without cabin (couch only) costs just 45,73€. Anyways I link you the site of Tirrenia so you can select the options you like better by yourself, I just looked for the cheapest way: Tirrenia di Navigazione s.p.a.

Z. It looks like the Palermo to Naples ferry is an all night rave according to the adverts. It sure sounds like it will be fun.
However, I'm a but worried about who I might have to share a cabin with, and how to secure my suitcase.
Or do I have to spend the night sitting outside on a deckchair with my arms wrapped around my baggage, praying for the dawn?

Christiano, The train take 9 hrs from Palermo to Naples, which is a long to to sit in one place looking through the window, no matter how good the scenery is. Compare this with having a cinema and a bar, plus other "goodies" available on the ferry.
I recon that I'll use the ferry just for the fun of it.
Has anyone travelled on this ferry??

I took ferries twice but never Palermo Naples. Anyways it's quite a good way to travel.
I didn't say you had to choose the cheapest way to travel, I put its price to give you an idea of the minimum price, but you can choose different accomodation or optionals in the ferry. In that link (it's in English) you can see the price after having chosen the options you like more, just play with it for a while until the quality/price is good
