Me and a friend of mine are looking to visit Italy somewhere in the Abbruzzo region. However we don't really want it to be like a vacation on a resort or a tour of the region. We would like to sort of live like a local, out of a regular hotel or appartment. Any ideas on how we could do that or other websites to visit?!?!

I like your approcah to this vacation you want to take in Abruzzo! I always try live 'locally' when I travel. I don't actually know the Abruzzo region that well but I think the first step to living like a local would be to rent an apartment. I can give you some idea of sites. As for living more like a local, I would suggest just playing everything by ear and figuring out things as you go along. Talk to locals, hang out at the cafes and bars where you see a lot of other Italians, cook your own food, find out what there is to do.

I have heard that Abruzzo is a region that is still yet to be discovered by tourists. There is little development there and you will see a very rustic way of life. Sounds great to me!
