Default I leave Italy for California domani

Well it has been a long fun filled month to say the least
being over in Italy. I went total immersion for the last couple
of weeks so my Italian has really impoved. I've been out to the Italian country side
up to the tall mountains where's there's still snow in July and back down to the Italian
cities. It's been hot and humid here in northern Italy except for when I spent some time
in Trento in the Italian Dolomite mountains. What beauty.

I gained about 10 pounds too eating all this great Italian food.
No meat balls and spaghetti for me.

I'm really worn out. Being a tourist in Italy for a month non e tanto facile.

I'm confused. You dined on Italian food without eating meatballs. How did you manage that?

If Villa actually went to Italy and not to Little Italy NY most probably he did not have any meatballs - I never have pasta with meatballs when I am in Italy - It is a dish very rarely served -
pasta alle vongole is probably one of the most requested definately, not past with meatballs that is Italian American -

Am still confused. Have never been to Italy and not eaten spaghetti with meatballs. Not sure my Italian relatives would be happy to hear that polpettini are being associated only/primarily/?exclusively with Italian-Americans.

Stefanaccio: I never had them in Italy - Well if you order some places might dig them out but is not a common dish anymore - It might have been once - It might be something your relative still make but if you go to a restaurant you will hardly see between the choices spaghetti with meatballs - You dont't believe me - Go on Google.it - select pagine in Italiano - Search for 'menu ristorante' - Non many will offer spaghetti and meatballs anymore -

I have to concur. In eight trips I've never encountered spaghetti and meatballs on the menu.

However, we had dinner at an Italian restaurant in Belmont, CA, about 5 weeks ago. This is from their menu: Spaghetti Meatballs - Our Original Homemade Red Sauce and Homemade Meatballs $11.
