Paolo, I will certainly rent a car, I know how to drive Italian style.
We have stayed in Perugia before at a Hotel called Chocolat, pretty fitting for the area. We have also ben to Orvieto several times. I'll check out your hotel reservation portal to see what it comes up with. I'll let you know. Grazie!

Lucky you! How come you are only going for 4 days?

We might be going to Rome in either late April or May.

Danno, How much will you be paying a night at a hotel in Perugia? Piu o meno. Before I got my apartment in Perugia
I was only paying 20 euros a day for a room(with a veiw)and bathroom. Would not dream of staying in a hotel and
paying all that money in Perugia. Plan on doing the samething this June 2009 cuando vado a Vicenza.

Villa, I won't be staying in Perugia this time, I'm still working on a place. I have a B&B lined up in Tuscany for a few days. I wish we had more time but are limited to the restrictions on the free tickets. Beggars can't be choosers!

Villa, at this point it is still up in the air .My wife wants to go to the Amalfi coast, that is her favorita. I however wanted to go North, because as much as I love the Amalfi coast, I have been there more than a dozen times. It's still beautiful!
Since we only have a few days this time, I will most likely cave into my wife's wishes and go to the coast
I am brushing up on my Italian, piano, piano.

Tu conosci Verona? Forse the best under visited city in Italy.
Outside of Rome it has more Roman ruins than anyother Italian city with an intact Roman type colosseum that's still used today.
Plus it's a very nice medieval city famous for Romeo and Julietta. As if this wasn't enough it's right next to
Lake Garda Italy's biggest and most beautiful lake. I'll be there in June.

Forse ti riferisci a "Villa Adriana" in Tivoli?

Verona looks like a lovely place but as I have said I only have 3 actual days on the ground. Have you looked at a map of Italy Lately? It's about a 6 hour drive from Rome.
So, after all is said and done , we are going with my wife's first plan, fly into Rome, drive to Sorrento and stay there for 3 days and then drive back to Rome on Thursday and fly out Friday morning.
It will be fun and I'll love the high speed driving
